Our Vision
To support quality surgical treatment and social reintegration to thousands of Ugandan women suffering from obstetric fistula.
Terrewode Women's Fund (formerly the Uganda Fistula Fund for TERREWODE) is a US 501.c.3 nonprofit corporation founded in support of TERREWODE’s work in maternal health,
specifically obstetric fistula. EIN 47-230-4060
TERREWODE is a registered Ugandan NGO, with oversight by a national Board of Directors. Founded in 2000, TERREWODE’s leadership and staff are all Ugandan, led by the co-founder, Alice Emasu, MSW graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Unique to fistula programs, TERREWODE incorporates a community outreach program to identify women with fistula and provide surgical repairs. For over 10 years, they have supported vulnerable women with fistulas who are living in the bush and remote villages in northeastern Uganda.
Together we are dedicated to the prevention, repair, and rehabilitation of women with fistula through the construction of the only dedicated women’s hospital and rehabilitation center in Uganda.
We are an inclusive, all volunteer organization. We welcome your participation, and support.
